Q - Quinzaine and Questrain

The poetry form Quinzaine is composed of 15 unrhymed syllables.

line 1 makes a statement

lines 2 and 3 ask a question relating to the statement

My three attempts at quinzaines:

The garden is wet with rain.

Is it still raining?

May I see?

It is well past your bedtime.

Can’t I stay up late?

Why can’t I?

I sit by the fire and read.

What are you reading?

Is it good?

The Questrain is another form involving questions.  It is syllabic and rhymed.

4 lines

lines 1, 2, 3 keep to the topic, line 4 asks a question regarding the topic

rhyme pattern abab

Harvest Festival

The middle of fall will be a feast

We’ll press the cider and cheer

Food for us all, both man and beast

Is the harvest so near?

  1. I confess I'm quite impressed with how your tackling these forms. You are truly inspiring me and when April's challenge is over, I'm absolutely going to have a go at trying to write some. Sounds like a fun May project to me.

    1. Well, thank you so much! :) I did start well before April!
