K - Katauta

 K - Katauta

The katauta is a Japanese form that is considered an incomplete poem.

Katauta are written in 3 lines, syllables of 5-7-5 or 5-7-7 (more common), and addressed to a lover.

If paired together they offer a question and answer between lovers, and are called sedoka.   I have written just the one, as an unanswered question.

Why do you cry out?

Are your dreams frightening things

that I should wake you?
