Pumpkin Spice What?
Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Challenge # 433
words: pumpkin and spice
We all know where this one's headed! Love it or hate it it's pumpkin spice season! Haiku would not normally have a title, but this one called out for one. You could say it's not a haiku since there is no kigo. Or, is there? We all know that autumn wouldn't be autumn without pumpkin spice!*
not my cup of tea

It all started, as a popular culture "thing," with Starbucks and their Pumpkin Spiced Latte (or PSL). It took off from there, with everyone and their brother producing pumpkin spiced food stuffs. There are now pumpkin spice Pringles, gum, candy corn and vodka. You can make any food taste like pumpkin spice with pumpkin spice spray-on-flavoring! Now you don't have to limit your addiction to the stuff to just your taste buds! You can smell like it too! Pumpkin spice soap-on-rope. Pumpkin spice deodorant. Pumpkin spice toothpaste.
Did you know that most pumpkin spice flavored (and of course scented) items do not even contain pumpkin (not getting into that most pumpkin products sold commercially do not contain pumpkin, but a different kind of squash)? Most are flavored with the same spices used in pumpkin pie.
Ginger. Cloves. Cinnamon.
