They say King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was struck insane, a punishment from the god of the Hebrews.  He spent years crawling around the meadows on all fours and eating grass, “as the bull.”  But, he may have been suffering from a little known, and rare, condition known as “boanthropy.”  People with this condition really believe they are cattle. 

No, this is not a joke.  Not a fake ailment, it’s an actual mental illness.  There are so many things yet to learn about our minds, and mental illnesses, researchers and specialists have only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to mental health. 

Many of the so-called miracle, curses, and cures in the Bible, like Nebuchadnezzar’s, may actually have been cases of mental illness.  Hallucinations, speaking to angels, or a talking donkey come to mind.
