V - Veterinarians, Gas Stations, and Edward

VETERINARIANS, GAS STATIONS, AND EDWARD

We went to the vet’s for a blood test
‘cause Edward needed his pills.
Allergies and thyroid,
epilepsy and big bills

Everyone says, “How cute.”
Everyone thinks, “How smart.”
I say, “Edward’s very sweet,”
and add his salve to my cart.

Edward loves all people,
but thinks small dogs are snacks.
So keep that wiener dog away,
I give you just the facts!

Edward’s a Goldendoodle,
a mutt by another name.
When we offer him a car ride,
Edward’s always game.

He has his regular treat rounds
He’s a hairy dog rock star!
Coffee stand, gas station,
the vet has treats in a jar.

Edward’s very curly,
but it’s hair he has, not fur.
The groomer’s cost is mighty
as your balance will concur.

If you want a Goldendoodle,
Just heed these words I say,
They’re sweet and cute and loving,
but, oh, you may rue the day!

  1. Edward is a cutie-pie indeed and I'd hold a stash of treats for him for sure!

    1. Fortunately, his allergies are not food related, so he can eat whatever treats come his way!
I will admit, he is cute and sweet. That's really all a house pet needs to be! (and housebroken)

  2. A cross between my two favorite breeds of dog, poodle and golden retriever!

    1. Interesting!

I wouldn't get another doodle (or a poodle or golden!), but that's because he is a one off. I'm not a doodle person! I'm a herding breed person. Heelers, Border collies... and they don't associate with dogs not their "kind," which is what I forgot when I got Edward for my other dog, Boo, when our others were too old for him to roughhouse with.

He's really a nice family pet though. I got him free on Craigslist at age 2 1/2. I didn't know his health issues would be quite so many, or expensive!

  3. I'm not sure if I ever rued a day before. How does one rue?
