"Sweet Child O' Mine"

This child lies,

with waxen skin

gently touched

by ivory silk,

in the tiny casket,

as low music plays

her favorite song.

Our country’s weakness

is bared to the world’s eye,

settling on those whose claims

of rights over reason,

are loudest.

Too soon

this child,

will be forgotten,

lost among the far too many.

"Sweet Child O' Mine" is a Guns N' Roses song Layla Salazar would sing with her father every day on her way to school.  Her family moved to Uvalde, TX from Chicago, to raise the children in a "safer place."  It wasn't.  She was just ten years old when she was murdered.
