Untitled - a Waltmarie

Weekly Scribblings #58

My second attempt (best not to talk about my first) at writing a Waltmarie, this week's Weekly Scribblings prompt.

Do not lack the courage

To live

Nor be long hesitant

To love

Let your wildest dreams free

To soar

And your imagination loose

To fly

Toward a future replete with

Wonder

  1. I also had an abandoned first attempt / first disaster. It really isn't all that easy a form, but terrific when it's done right. I'm glad you persevered to arrive at this doubly positive message. I particularly like the imperative implied in the last word of the mini-poem.

    1. Thank you. No, not easy. I guess others have their methods, but I can't see any way but to write the five word poem first, then go back and fill in longer lines.

  2. This is perfection --- and a hint of Spring as well! Much needed.

    1. Yes, the crocus get me through the end of winter! No snow (yet, in 2018 and 2019 they were blooming in it) so it feels much much like spring even with nights below freezing still.

    1. Better if we accept the good advice and act on it! That's the hard part.

  6. Very good! I like how hopeful this is. The 2-syllable lines are very effective.

    1. Thank you. I wrote those first, then filled in the others to fit.

  7. Well, who needs to speak of the first one when this one wins the prize!? Nicely penned - it is very uplifting.

  8. This worked out well for you, a fun write and a worthwhile read, Lisa. My first attempt didn't work either.

    1. Thanks. Our firsts were just practice, which, as they say, makes... if not perfect, better!
