“You put the toilet paper on backwards again!”

It’s a small thing.  One of those small things that can end up breaking the camel’s back.  Relationships prosper or sputter to an end over differing opinions of this small thing.  Family members become divided, mother against her own children, who often return from friends’ houses with “new” ways.  It’s a small thing, sure, but so is a splinter.  It’s a small thing that grows to immense proportions if cohabitants aren’t in accord.   It’s a small thing up there with leaving the toilet seat up, or squeezing the toothpaste from the middle.

  1. Dear Lisa,

Those little things can become big things after so many years, can't they?

    Shalom,

  2. The toilet seat? I gave up years ago. Husband and three sons. My daughter and I learned quickly not to trust that the seat would be down. Not worth fighting over.

The direction of the TP, however? That can ignite war!

    1. The toilet seat was not a debatable thing for me! Closed is the default on a toilet!

  3. Yes, that sounds familiar. Fortunately, we usually end up laughing in our household, which is probably why we are still together. So the irritation grows and then we find ways to shrink it down before there's a mushroom cloud over the house!

    1. I guess the way to solve it is to make sure to be the one to change the paper. Just don't complain no one else does it! I am always the one left with an empty soap container, that's irritating to me.

  4. Little things can add up but I'm glad she picks her battles or she'd be fighting 24/7.

    1. True, and it's easy to just take it off and turn it around.

  5. As long as it's on the bar there is no wrong way to put on toilet paper rolls. Fun story. Here's mine!

    1. I like it under, and would change it if anyone put it "backwards," but very few I know do it the opposite. But, backwards is better than none!
