The Unwanted One - a Haibun

 It's Haibun Monday at dVerse.

The prompt is Fall foliage or Spring blossoms.

Eleven months of the year I vainly attempt to rid my yard of Virginia

creeper. Come October, I’m glad I failed! The vivid crimsons, and

peachy-pinks of leaves, the berries blackest blue on scarlet stems are

the clear winners in Autumn’s Color Contest.

  1. Thank you for sharing your haibun and photos, Lisa – the colours of the Virginia creeper are gorgeous.

  2. I thought I recognize it, and we do have some of it in our garden, but most likely it is less of a pest because of the climate here. I have never tried to get rid of them.

    1. I'd never had it before moving here, and it was so overgrown, the underneath all dead twigs. I made the mistake of pruning that tossing the stems in the compost heap. The compost heap is covered with Virginia creeper now!

  3. I didn't know they were such a nuisance, we only have ivy - but what colours indeed, Lisa...
