The Historian

 The Whirligig #330

Prompt words in red.

The man looks into mirrors

hoping to view history.

He sees cities of birds instead.

Skyscrapers of reflections,

where mankind never walked.

These images confuse,

disturb his heart

with frightful

and glorious longings to be

inside the looking glass.

The birds turn as one to his yearning sobs.

The mirror lists,

but before it drops to shatter,

they see their own history,

cities of men reflected in his eyes.
