“Write love
letters to wild flowers.”
I chose three of the wildflowers that grow in my yard.
To the Blue Flax in My Garden
Delicate blue
heads
Nod in the
slightest breezes
Darling of the
beds

My Dear Wild Violet
The first to
flower in the herbs,
whilst they are
still aslumber.
You brighten up my winter days.
I welcome all
your number.
Dandy Dandelion
Some may curse
your pretty head.
Some may mow you
down.
I like to see
your sunny hue
all the year
around.
You make the lawn
a tapestry of
happy yellow
dots.
I let you stay,
and never mind
the scowling
neighbor thoughts.
And when you’re
finished blooming,
a lovely clock
appears,
to float away
with counted puffs,
a game in child’s
play.

Oh beautiful wildflowers poems. My favourite is the last stanza of the dandelion poen
ReplyDeleteThank you. In the US we don't call them "clocks," at least in the west. When I learned they are called that elsewhere The Rolling Stones song made more sense!
DeleteWhat a brilliantly written, heartfelt and delightful tribute to all those yellow dots!
ReplyDeleteThey add so much to a lawn. Or a grassy area, I don't have a "proper" lawn. They are pretty much a waste of gardening space, unless you have kids to play on them.
DeleteI love the dandelions on my lawn, too! All these pictures and poems brighten my morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked them! Pretty flowers and edible too! I don't eat mine, I have a dog, so who knows if they are clean enough!
DeleteI like the "never mind the scowling neighbour thoughts" .
ReplyDeleteIn your passion you should exclude everything else.
I already liked you. And that I know you are a dandelion lover, I like you even more. I, too, love the bright magic those blooms add to a lawn. As clusters of stars have chosen to shine at our feet--lucky us.
ReplyDeleteYou picked some of my favorites to write about. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love Dandy Dandelions!
