Really, John? What Doesn’t Need to be Repaired? - Writer's Workshop
Writer’s Workshop: August 20, 2026
Here are this week’s prompts:1. Write a post inspired by the word extension.
2. Write a post in exactly eleven (11) lines.
3. What is the next major event you’re preparing for? What do you need to do to prepare for it?
4. What’s the most amusing thing that happened in the last week?
5. A classic – Tell us about your ten favorite snack foods.
6. Tell us about something you need to have repaired.
Ten Favorite Snack Foods
1 – malted milk balls (not the real malted milk ones, the kind that are mostly chocolate!)
2 – tiny pretzels
3 – gooey warm brownies
4 – fruit in season (peaches, cherries, watermelon)
5 – spoonful of peanut butter (better yet if it’s dipped in mini chocolate chips!)
6 – a bowl of cereal
7 – toasted raisin bagel with cream cheese, jam, and walnuts
8 – oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough
9 – Fritos
10 – frozen Key lime pie (the kind the dollar store sells in two packs)
REPAIRS
My passenger back door is frozen shut, and can’t be fixed since the mechanic can’t open it.
My deck is rotting, watch where you step! The purple spray painted
boards should be safe.
The shed floor is rotted too, my son stepped through it yesterday and
had to reach under to get his shoe. At least he wasn’t bitten by a
rat…
The kitchen faucet leaks.
The bathroom faucet drips.
The fence is falling over, held up with an old hose, hopes, and
prayers.
Then there are repairs I need,
You know the sort I mean.
The aching hips and heel (only one of each so far).
The dentist says I need a crown.
My doctor says my weight is high.
My attitude could be adjusted.
I’ll leave it here for now... I have to try to find the duct tape, the
refrigerator handle broke off.
