  1. (Jules from Tanka Tuesday) - Poor kitty. I think I recently watched a show about Egypt and Basset the black cat goddess (Bastet was originally depicted as a lioness, but by the 2nd millennium BCE she was more commonly depicted as a cat or a feline-headed woman. Her ferocious nature was thought to have mellowed after the domestication of cats around 1500 BCE.) I actually saw some images of Basset wearing a fancy blue Egyptian necklace - so maybe not so much bad luck after all?

    1. A blue collar? If I see her again, I will give the honor due her and call her Bastet!

  2. Great poem, Jules! I can totally envision the cat reminiscing on his glory days.

    1. Not Jules, but thanks! I expect the cat was once upon a time a very attractive statue. I thought of how men (in my experience, men who once played high school football!) reminisce like that and how cats are quite conceited so would do the same!
